To open the wallet in the Hopp app, you must open the menu and select Wallet.
Here are the different cards and payment methods that can be used to pay for Hopp rides
Hopp cards - Gift cards, prepaid cards, and coupons available in certain regions
Payment methods - Regular debit and credit cards.
Company accounts - Accounts with a single payment card that many can share.
Hopp Cards
Hopp cards are payment cards and coupons which customers can either use to pay for rides or add a fixed discount to all trips.
Hopp cards are currently not available everywhere but rollouts will happen in the near future.
Payment methods
Payment methods can be any debit or credit card.
Add payment method
Press the Add button to start the process of adding a new payment method.
Manually add the card details or scan the card's front side.
After filling out the details, press Set up.
This triggers an authentication process called 3D secure. Most banks and card issuers support the 3D-secure protocol. The protocol allows Hopp to make online transactions without confirmed approval for each transaction.
The 3D secure process leads to the required approval of a €0.0 transaction in the bank's smartphone app.
Note that this €0.0 transaction might linger in the bank statement as "pending".
Apple & Google Pay
The Hopp app supports Apple Pay and Google Pay. Apple pay is only available on Apple products, and Google Pay on Android.
Users with smartphones with these payment services set up can use them to pay for their rides.
Remove payment method
Go into the wallet and press the three dots button in the Payment method section to remove a payment method from the Hopp app.
Cards with an unpaid debt cannot be removed from the Hopp app without paying the debt first.
Company accounts
Company accounts are a payment method that allows companies or groups to pay for their employees' usage of Hopp.
Company accounts have a single card and many users. Receipts are sent at the end of each month which simplifies accounting.
If you need to have specific business details on receipts (such as ID or VAT numbers), then a company account is the best option.
