Zones, area, and map (updated April 2024)

There are several different zones on the map for no-parking, slow, discount and more.

Updated over a week ago

Attention: Zone colors were changed in update 9.1.4 in April 2024.

No-park zone: Red (old) β†’ White (new)

New No-go zone: β†’ Red (instead of No-park zones) (coming in May 2024)

Out of bounds: Red (old) β†’ Blue (new)

There are several different zones that can show up on the map. These zones affect how and what you can do while riding in the zones. These zones are:

  • Slow zone - Yellow / Orange

    • Vehicles are slowed down in the area.

  • No-park zone - White

    • No ending of rides in the area

  • No-go zones - Red

    • No driving or ending of rides in the area.

  • Discount zone - Green

    • Discount for ending the ride there.

  • Out of bounds - Blue

    • Leaving the zone can end the ride automatically.

  • Parking stations - Red P

    • Users must park there.

  • Recommended parking - Blue P

    • Users are encouraged to park there.

Note: You can press on zones in the app to see more info.

Slow zone (Yellow / Orange zone)

Slow zones are for scooters only. Car sharing has no slow zones.

The yellow slow zones slow down scooters when they enter the area. Most slow zones slow the scooter down to 15km/h (9mph), but they can sometimes go as low as 6km/h.

The scooter should regain normal speed once it leaves the slow zone.

Places where slow zones might be added:

  • School zones

  • Pedestrian streets

  • Sidewalks with high foot traffic

No Park zone (White zone)

No park zones are the white zones inside the operating zone. You can ride through the no-park zone but can't end the ride in the zone.

If a vehicle in a ride is left in a no-park zone, the ride might end due to inactivity, and the rider might incur a parking penalty.

A parking penalty might be incurred if vehicles run out of battery in a no-park zone.

Places where no-park zones might be found:

  • Schools

  • Parking garages

  • Private properties

  • Highway intersections

No-go zone (Red)

No-go zones will be added in May 2024 and are colored red. No-park zones were previously red but have been changed to white.

When a scooter enters a no-go zone the top speed is reduced to 5-8km/h and ending the ride is forbidden. Leaving the scooter with an ongoing ride will end the ride due to inactivity and a penalty will be charged.

No-go zones can be found in the following areas:

  • School grounds

  • Cemetaries

  • No trespassing areas.

Discount zone (Green zone)

Ending a ride in a discount zone gives a flat discount for the ride.

The discount is displayed on the receipt in your trip history and by pressing the zone on the map.

Out of bounds (blue area at the edge of the zone)

The out-of-bounds area is the big blue field that encircles the operating zone.

Some service areas allow users to leave the operating zone freely (i.e., car sharing), but ending the ride will incur a parking penalty.

Other zones (i.e., Reykjavik in Iceland) automatically end rides once they leave the operating zone.

Hoppspots

Spots on the map where users park the vehicles.

Red spots mean you must park there, and blue spots mean it is recommended to park there.

Parking stations (red parking spots)

Some Hopp locations have parking stations. Customers must park their scooters in parking stations to be able to end their rides.

Recommended Parking (blue parking spots)

Find these blue parking indicators on the map. They are often accompanied by a green discount zone to further encourage users to park and end their rides there.
