How to Verify Your Digital Driving Licence in the Hopp App

We now accept digital driving licences. Follow the steps below to verify your licence and start renting cars with Hopp.


Here is a step by step guide to verify your digital driving license:


1. Open Settings:

In the Hopp app, tap your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.

2. Add Your Driving Licence

Tap Edit, then select Add Driving Licence.

3. Choose Digital Driving Licence

You will see two options:

  • Digital Driving Licence

  • Physical Driving Licence Card

Select Digital Driving Licence and tap Continue..

4. Verify Your Identity

You will be redirected to Kenni to verify your identity. You can sign in using one of the following methods:

  • Electronic ID (Rafræn skilríki)

  • Auðkenni app

  • Kenni Access Key
    ​

5. Take a Selfie

After signing in, your phone’s front camera will open automatically.

Take a selfie when prompted. This is used to verify that the licence belongs to you.

6. Upload Your Driving Licence Barcode

Next, you’ll need to upload the barcode from your digital driving licence.

  1. Open Ísland.is and access your digital driving licence.

  2. Take a screenshot of the barcode.

  3. Save the screenshot to your phone or copy it to your clipboard.

  4. Return to the Hopp app.

  5. Upload the screenshot or paste it from your clipboard.

Important: The barcode on Ísland.is is only valid for approximately one minute, so this step must be completed quickly.

7. Verification Complete

If everything was successful, your driving licence will be approved automatically in the Hopp app.

You can now rent a car with Hopp.
